A very sought after sports model

Other than the GR Supra and GR 86 sports model, Toyota fans in North America have been awaiting a new and revisited GR model.  In fact, a Yaris GR has hit the European market and met with instant success, all the while the American market could only covet it from afar. 

It is finally our turn to have access to a sports version of one of the most beloved cars on the market: the Toyota Corolla hatchback.  This even sportier car will remain truly accessible to the majority of drivers.  Even if Toyota Corolla Hatchback GR prices have yet to be announced, they should be rather affordable, like all other Toyota models.

An even more performant Corolla

Just as the “GR” initials promise (since they stand for “Gazoo Racing”), this version will be much sportier than the current Corolla model.

We can expect for it to be equipped with the regular Yaris engine, which means a 1.6 L turbocharged 3- cylinder engine.  Power should be between 257 and 268 horsepower and maximum torque should be around 265 lb-ft. 

As you know, the Honda Civic has its Si sports version; however, the new Corolla GR should be even more powerful than that!

Driving amateurs will also be glad to know that a 6- speed manual transmission should be made available.  All-wheel drive should also be available, for optimal traction on the road, and so should be the Torsen limited slip differentials, which are most appreciated by drivers everywhere.  It is safe to say that one could expect a more powerful and exciting driving experience.

When it comes to the interior, we can anticipate something similar to the 2023 Corolla hatchback, which means comfortable, but with sports finishes and seats, which are loyal to its character.  Cutting-edge technologies can be expected as well, and so can the Toyota Safety Sense, as standard equipment.
